Cold Gas
Propulsion

T4i develops up to 6 D.o.F. cold gas propulsion systems, that are based on Freon (R134a) propellant and are extremely compact.

TECHNOLOGY ADVANTAGES

HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE

Being proprietary technology at T4i, the system can be fully reconfigured depending on specific needs of the platform.

GREEN

R134a is a green propellant that provides minimum environmental impact.

MULTIPLE D.o.F.

Up to 6 Degrees of Freedom (3 thrust, 3 torques), making it ideal for proximity operations.

READY TO FIRE

Very low pre-firing time makes the system always ready to perform orbital maneuvers.

STRINGENT LEAK TIGHTNESS

A comprehensive investigation of leak paths and a meticulous design of all fluidic interfaces open up the possibility of years-long missions.

FREON (R134A)

R134a shows some interesting characteristics

• R134a is a green, non-flammable, non-explosive, and non-toxic fluid which is safe to handle during both the
development and testing phase, and the integration and pre-launch operations.
• R134a is a cost-effective propellant and easy to procure. In fact, it is commonly used in the refrigeration
industry.
• R134a has one of the highest density of all biphasic fluids, resulting in exceptionally compact tanks.
• Due to the biphasic nature of R134a, the MEOP is very low and the tank is self-pressurized until the fluid is
completely depleted.
